1. BRICS Ministers discuss pentalateral cooperation including the necessity of reforming the model of scientific, technical and innovative cooperation of BRICS member countries. The 7th meeting of BRICS Ministers of Science, Technology and Innovation was held in Campinas, Brazil. The Russian delegation was lead by the First Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mr. Grigory Trubnikov.

2. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation will hold five seminars in five countries this autumn. Programs of development of the first five research and educational centres (REC) will be discussed. The goal is to help these centres reach the level of international standards. Representatives of the Russian science and educational diaspora abroad as well as foreign scientists who are actively involved in the Russian scientific program are invited. One of the tasks of the Russian national project «Science» is to create network of 15 REC in the Russian Federation.

3. Scientists demonstrated how to improve properties of phase change material. Scientists from the N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with their colleagues from Israel and Singapore wrapped paraffin with a thin organic polymer membrane and covered the capsule with zinc oxide. This allowed them to get a composite that is easily mixed with water and has an improved ability to transfer heat. Such material can be used in various fields of industry and construction including creating efficient air conditioning systems.

4. Real experiments on the NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility) collider, one of six projects in Russia classified as a “mega-science” project will be implemented in 2021. Construction of the collider is scheduled to be completed by 2020 and scientists hope that the new collider will help explaining how protons and neutrons were formed moments after the big bang.

5. «Soyuz-FG» carrier rocket that will launch a manned spacecraft «Soyuz MS-15» into orbit on September 25th has been installed on the Baikonur space centre launch pad in Kazakhstan. The spacecraft will carry three crew members on board. It is the final launch of this type of carrier rocket.

6. The Russian scientists have developed diagnostic equipment that can work under extreme conditions. This equipment is intended for the International Experimental Nuclear Reactor (ITER) and will facilitate the process of construction of a new, more ecological and safe source of energy.
