  • The Russian authorities intend to use AI in the economy of the Russian Federation and in the field of public administration

 

In 2024, the government will launch an educational program for heads of government departments, state corporations and universities, as well as simplify the use of “regulatory sandboxes” for digital innovations. At the same time, the authorities will establish responsibility for causing harm when testing breakthrough digital technologies. A new measure will also affect the private sector: the use of this technology by companies will become a prerequisite for them to receive subsidies from the federal budget

  • Russian scientists learned to control the work of the brain with the help of nanorobots

 

Scientists of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS (ICiG) together with colleagues from TPU proved that nanoparticles can be captured by neuronal cells in the olfactory bulbs of the nose. According to them, the movement of captured particles can be controlled using an alternating magnetic field, which will allow them to be delivered to the necessary parts of the brain and influence its work

  • In Russia, a cure for Ankylosing spondylitis has been created

 

Preclinical trials, including on primates, were completed successfully. Now the drug is being prepared for the third phase of clinical trials. In October, an article about this drug was published in the journal Nature Medicine: a clinical case of long-term remission with relief of pain syndrome and improvement of functional condition was described.

Salaries of Russian IT specialists continue to go up: growth in 2023 amounted to 8.5%. However, this is the worst indicator of growth in salaries of IT specialists over the past two years. It is noteworthy that even after the mass migration of programmers in 2022, which caused a serious shortage of personnel in this area, the growth rate still slowed down.

  • HSE, MIPT and ITMO topped the ranking of the best universities in the quality of training of AI specialists

 

The first rating of Russian universities on the quality of training of AI specialists included 180 universities from 64 regions of the country. It includes those universities that have bachelor’s degree programs in the relevant areas. In 2023, more than 5 thousand students were accepted to these universities for programs in the field of artificial intelligence.
