    • In Dubna, the world’s record parameters for cooling heavy ions were obtained. The experiment was conducted at the heavy ion collider NICA

     

    In 2023, the first electronic cooling of heavy ions in Russia was obtained at the JINR heavy ion storage complex as part of the synchrotron rings “Booster” and “Nuclotron” of the NIKA accelerator complex. NICA is one of six megascience class projects in Russia, according to which a collider will be built at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. This installation, scientists hope, will allow to understand how protons and neutrons were formed in the first moments after the Big Bang in the Universe.

    • In 2023, the consolidated revenue of the state corporation Roscosmos increased by 24 billion rubles

     

    This was announced by the Director General of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel. He expressed the hope that in the next two to three years, the corporation will become profitable or at least break even.

    • Russia introduces special tariffs for electricity for cryptocurrency miners

     

    Starting from January 1, 2024, the Russian regional authorities will be able to provide a differentiated tariff for electricity, depending on the volume of consumption. Currently, miners pay as individuals, the payment of electricity for which is subsidized. With the new approach, those who spend a lot will have to pay more.

    • The Russian venture capital market continues to fall, but not as much as in 2022 – research results

     

    MTS StartUp Hub and the Russian Venture publication conducted a large-scale study of the Russian venture market in 2023. Last year, 94 public transactions became known, compared with 118 in 2022. The market volume has fallen by almost 3 times, as well as the volume of investments in Russian startups. However, if we take into account the large deal ($150 million) for the InDrive decentralized passenger transportation service, the market volume remained the same as in 2022.
