- Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to invent a way to identify deepfakes
By March 19, the Ministry of Digital Development needs to submit a report on planned measures to identify unreliable data generated using AI technologies. Mishustin gave such an instruction following the results of a strategic session dedicated to the national project “Data Economy”.

- Russian telecommunications company to launch production of 5G base stations
MTS subsidiary Irteya plans to release one thousand base stations for 4G and 5G standards at the Tomsk Mikran plant in 2024. According to the roadmap of “Modern and Promising mobile communication networks” developed by the Government, only domestic base stations will be available in Russia from 2028.

- A space platform for experiments with electronics has been created in Samara
Scientists at Samara National Research University have developed an equipment (platform) that will be installed on board the Bion-M orbital laboratory No. 2 for testing extreme electronics. Bion is a series of domestic spacecraft for biological research, from 1973 to 1996, 11 satellites of this series were launched into space. In April 2013, the first upgraded biological satellite, Bion-M, was launched.

- A competition for young scientists has started in Russia
The competition, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is aimed at supporting innovative scientific developments and the latest research in priority sectors of the economy: chemical industry, agricultural production, pharmaceuticals, electronics, energy, and digital technologies. The prize will amount to 300 thousand rubles, the authors of the research will receive support for the protection of intellectual property from Rospatent.

Employees of the Laboratory of Neuromorphic Photonics at Moscow State University have developed optoelectronic structures based on zinc oxide with a pulse type of response to a signal similar to that demonstrated by neurons in the human brain. The solution will help accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies through more powerful and energy-efficient computing systems
