Korean delegation visited the Russian Space Research Institute

This week Korean delegation has visited the Russian Space Research Institute to discuss possible areas of cooperation in space research and education. The Korean side was represented by Jeong Taek Ryeol, attaché for science of the Embassy of the Korea Republic in Russia, Suh Gill Won, the director of the Korea-Russia Cooperation Center for Science and Technology, KORUSTEC and Lee Young Eun, senior project manager of KORUSTEC.


The Russian Space Research Institute was represented by the Academician Lev Zelyony, the scientific director of the Institute and the Corresponding Member of the RAS, Anatoly Petrukovich, the deputy director, Andrey Sadovsky, the head of the scientific and educational center, Ravil Khazinov, vice director for international cooperation.


Cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea in the space sector is developing very successfully, as exemplified by the successful launch of the KSLV-1 rocket in 2013. Besides, in September 2016 Roskosmos and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in the space sphere.


During the visit possible areas of cooperation in space exploration, in particular, in the study of the Moon and Mars, Earth exploration from space, the creation of microsatellites, and in educational programs were discussed. The visit ended with an excursion to the exhibition hall of the Russian Space Research Institute.
