1. Russian scientists have developed the world's first "electronic nose" that is sensitive to several toxic gases at once. The resulting sensors do not require high battery power, are stable at high humidity and are able to recognize the presence of only 30 molecules of nitrogen dioxide or ethyl mercaptan, which provides the "smell of gas", among the billion nitrogen and oxygen molecules that make up the air. Such devices will help monitor the environment, regulate industrial operations and assess the freshness of perishable food.



2. Construction of a 300 MW nuclear power unit with an innovative fast neutron reactor BREST-OD-300 with lead coolant and new mixed uranium-plutonium nitride fuel has begun in Seversk, Tomsk Region. The solemn event dedicated to the start of construction of the BREST-OD-300 is included in the plan of the main events of the Year of Science and Technology.



3. Scientists of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" have found out the device of a mature viral particle of yellow fever. It is this form that is the most infectious. In the course of the study, specialists first studied the structure of the surface protein, which is responsible for the penetration of the virus into the cells of the body - that is, it plays a key role in the infection process. The data obtained will help develop drugs for the treatment of yellow fever, which have not yet been developed.



4. As a result of the largest specialized exhibition Metalloobrabotka-2021, residents of the Skolkovo Foundation (VEB.RF Group) received contracts worth 286.5 million rubles. Also, within the framework of the event, the project participants reached a number of promising agreements.



5. The concept of the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS) at Roscosmos is ready, the state corporation plans to organize the first consideration of this project in the government by the end of June. This was announced by the general director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin on Wednesday.
