1. Roscosmos has allocated 318 million rubles for the first stage of the creation of the Russian automatic station Venera-D, for the study of Venus, follows from materials posted on the website of state purchases.

2. The funds planned for 2021 for updating the instrument base of scientific institutes and universities in the amount of about 8 billion rubles will not allow solving the problems of the development of science in the Russian Federation. This opinion was expressed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev on the sidelines of the forum ‘Youth and Science’.

3. Scientists from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University(SPbPU) have developed a new approach to determine the best compositions of electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. SPbPU researchers believe that the use of Atomic Layer Deposition technology can provide the creation of miniature lithium-ion batteries with complex shapes and increased energy.

4. Experts from the Laboratory of Experimental Mineralogy and Crystallogenesis of the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy named after VS Sobolev SB RAS was the first to determine the conditions for the crystallization of diamonds in melts of 15 rare-earth metals(scandium, yttrium and lanthanides).

5. Physicists of the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute have developed a new strategy for obtaining promising materials for electronics. They are created by the integration of two components - silicon and functional oxide, which is formed in the form of a thin film. The bottom line is to control the interface between these two substances. The proposed approach is universal and will allow in the future to obtain a wide variety of structures with unique properties that will be in demand for the creation of energy-efficient devices.
