1. On March 25, at the V.A. Almazov, the grand opening of the Competence Center ‘Hereditary, rare and poorly studied diseases’ took place. The event is timed to coincide with the Year of Science and Technology in Russia. The Competence Center was opened on the basis of the world-class Scientific Center ‘Center for Personalized Medicine and consists of a consortium of two organizations: the Almazov Center and the Institute of Experimental Medicine. The tasks of the Center will be solved jointly with leading Russian and world scientific and clinical institutes.

2. Unicorn, a resident of the Energy Efficient Technologies Cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation, won an open tender and began work on the design, supply and installation of equipment for the Smart Home system at residential real estate objects of the FGC Group.

3. Scientists from the Far Eastern Federal University and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences managed to create a ceramic material with high mechanical strength, microhardness and thermal stability, which is necessary for the safe, without the threat of environmental pollution, placement of cores with strontium-90. A power plant(isotope battery) made from developed ceramics is one example of the peaceful application of nuclear technology.

4. On Thursday, March 25, it became known that scientists from the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E.Bauman(MSTU) have developed an experimental setup that analyzes with high accuracy the composition of air exhaled by a person. On its basis, a medical diagnostic device can be created, the press service of the university reports. The setup is based on infrared spectroscopy using quantum cascade lasers. The development can also be used in environmental analysis of the atmosphere.

5. Russian physicists have discovered a mechanism that explains why gas bubbles inside nuclear fuel pellets form very quickly. This discovery will make nuclear reactors more efficient and safer.
