1. Russian and Chinese scientists to cooperate in creation of heavy-duty lasers. The Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics signed an agreement in Shanghai on Monday on organization of a joint laboratory for the creation and use of such lasers.

2. Scientists from Russia and USA simulated a high-voltage discharge in front of a supersonic aircraft. The obtained data will allow for better simulation of gas flow control processes and make flights of such airliners and spaceships safer.

3. The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology started designing civil and military satellite constellations consisting of several hundred or thousands of crafts. The project is to be carried out by the end of 2022.

4. Russia and France are preparing an agreement on the far space exploration with the launch of the «Spectrum-M» (“Millimetron”) observatory, which will study deep space objects and look for traces of extra-terrestrial life. The “Millimetron” agreement with South Korea is at the final stage and a document on cooperation has already been signed with the Italian Space Agency.

5.  Russian scientists of the Siberian Federal University and the SB RAS discovered a new efficient method of producing carbon nanostructures. According to the scientists, this method will find application in electronics, chemical industry and energy. The results are published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer. Carbon nanostructures are currently being studied all over the world, and possibilities of their application are incredibly wide: from artificial muscles and ultra-strong materials to neurocomputer systems.
