1. The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) stated three problems of scientific institutions in the region; outdated research infrastructure, outflow of young personnel and the lack of research programs. The Russian Academy of Sciences plans to invite foreign colleagues to participate in its visiting session on Sakhalin in 2020, Russian President Alexander Sergeyev said at a session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF) on Thursday.



2. Ruslan Sarkisov, Director General of the Far Eastern High Technology Fund, spoke about the practical work to support the high-tech business that is being carried out in the region. Over the course of the year, the fund team reviewed more than 200 projects and invested about 400 million rubles in Far Eastern companies. Oksana Tarasenko, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, spoke about the development of technological infrastructure in the Far East.



3. Delegations of forty-five Russian universities gathered in Nalchik to draw up programs for the development of the ‘Boiling Points’ network, according to a press release from Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekova on Thursday. "Boiling points" indicates spaces for collective work that are created on the basis of Russian universities in order to implement the program of the National Technological Initiative (NTI).



4. Scientists from the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI) and the University of Oulu (Finland) conducted joint studies to study the interaction of red blood cells controlled from the outside with optical laser tweezers. The results obtained are important for the development of the latest medical paradigm - targeted delivery of drugs, as well as for immunotherapy, the creation of artificial blood and other areas of biomedicine. The results of the study are published in the scientific journal "Scientific Reports".



5. The orbital constellation of the Russian global navigation satellite system GLONASS will work until October in an incomplete composition - 22 spacecraft out of 24 necessary, under the control of the TsNIImash information and analytical center (the head scientific institute of Roscosmos).



6. At the research reactor of Tomsk Polytechnic University, the first experimental batch of lutetium-177 trichloride, an extremely effective basis for therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, was developed.
